MICHOACAN, MEXICO 2021

My trip to Michoacán is best described by the following words: color, bread and family.

The flight from Sacramento to Mexico City, via Phoenix and Dallas Fort Worth was long, exhausting but enjoyable because I flew American Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Its business class seats were comfortable and the food was great! The best part of the flight experience was how the sky colors changed from light blue to a wide range of oranges and reds, yellows and eventually dark hues of blue and gray.

After a three-day stay in Mexico City, I took a Primera Plus bus to Los Reyes, Michoacán. Christmas was still five days away but the crowds were unbearable.

The bus trip took a little under eight hours and I arrived in Los Reyes, Michoacán a few minutes past 7 am.

For the next 10 days, my family and I went on a few trips around Los Reyes riding in the back of a truck with my nephews—safety last. Apparently, we were not the only ones riding like this.

Los Reyes has, without a doubt, the best bread I have tried—anywhere! Now, if you combine the best bread with amazing hot chocolate, I can now see where the five pounds I gained came from.

Besides tasty bread and chocolate, tortas and tacos, Los Reyes has amazing views and plenty of avocados and berries.

Despite all the negativity Michoacán often gets, we had a great time this Christmas and New Years.

Hasta la próxima!
